Rehab Teaching

Ordinary tasks of everyday life, work, and play can be challenges for persons with vision impairment.

Rehabilitation teachers provide instruction and guidance in adaptive, independent living skills, enabling adults who are blind and visually impaired to confidently carry out their daily activities. We provide skills needed by individuals who are blind and visually impaired to live independently at home, to obtain employment, and to participate in community life.

Our rehabilitation teachers can instruct you on preparing a meal safely for your family, managing your finances, maintaining a safe home environment, or learn about current technology to attend college or gain employment. These tasks can be independently attained by various techniques and adaptive equipment available at Olmsted Center. We are here to teach the skills that enable people with visual impairments to live as independently as possible.
